Intelligent Wireless Access BackhaulDescriptionThe intelligent Wireless Access Backhaul (iWAB) uses a multi-beam antenna to provide a high speed and long-range data connection. Applications include locations with limited wireless coverage or where there is no wired alternative. This compact antenna subsystem automatically scans its beams for nearby wireless base stations or access points and selects the one offering the fastest data connection. With increased signal gain and reduced interference, the data link can run at higher rates over longer distances than with standard antennas. By continuously monitoring the links to a number of base stations, the iWAB can switch to a different beam. In some cases, this might be directed at a site that is further away, but has more bandwidth available. The iWAB provides a reliable, high-speed wireless connection in areas without a suitable wired interface. This could be the broad band data link for local hotspots, ships communicating from offshore, consumers at homes, emergency services in the field or roadside traffic monitoring. ยท Finds the fastest available data connection to an existing data network Provides increased data rates Operates over a longer range Self-installs and automatically selects base stations Offers an alternative to wired interfaces Uses existing user equipment such as PC datacards and USB modems Backhaul connection for wireless access points offering hotspot coverage Extended ship-to-shore link to existing land-based network Secure data connection for emergency services at an incident scene Broadband data connection for the home or small office Telemetry interface to surveillance cameras and other remote equipment.
